Nick is on extended leave for personal reasons.

Nick Cook is a lecturer in the School of Computing Science at Newcastle University. Before starting his lectureship in August 2006, he was an RA on the UK EPSRC eScience Gold project and a PhD student at Newcastle. Before that he was a research administrator in the School.

Nick is a member of the School's Distributed Systems Group. His research interests concern both enterprise and inter-enterprise middleware. To date, the focus has been on practical support for non-repudiable interactions between organisations - developing novel middleware for both non-repudiable information sharing and message delivery for Java enterprise (J2EE) applications and for Web services.

Nick won the EuroSys Roger Needham PhD Award 2007 and was one of the two EPSRC-nominated candidates among the 17 European finalists for the 2007 ERCIM Cor Baayen award.
